Mamata's threat to foil strike illegal: CITU

Kolkata, Feb 19 : Terming the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's threats to foil the two-day strike call as "illegal", the labour arm of CPI(M)- CITU today threatened to file a case against chief secretary Sanjoy Mitra if the state government forcefully tries to stop workers from participating in the 'bandh'.

"The state government is becoming more shameless with every passing day. What Mamata Banerjee is doing forcefully to foil the strike is illegal. This force and threats is totally illegal. No chief minister or state government has the right to take away the right of the workers to participate in strike," CITU state president Shyamal Chakraborty said.

After warning of stern action against enforcement of the two-day general strike by Central trade unions, the CM today said steps would be taken if shops were closed for the next two days in the state.

"If the state government uses forces and threats to foil the strike then we will file a case against state chief secretary Sanjoy Mitra. Then law will take its own course.
This very attitude of the state government shows that they are anti-workers," said Chakraborty.
